CHINESE MEDICINE & OTHER TECHNIQUES

If you’re like most of our readers, then you want to heal, to feel fully alive, and reach your full potential in life. You’re interested in finding effective solutions to things like depression, chronic pain, anxiety, fatigue, and stress.

Have you ever heard of "qi" or "chi"? It's your body's "vital energy". Think of qi as the natural flow of all your body’s systems — including the flow of blood, lymph, hormones, and information. Anything that impedes, messes with, or gets in the way of this flow also messes with your health.

Sugar, prescription drugs, non-prescription painkillers like Advil and Tylenol, gluten, diet soda, tomatoes and potatoes and cold foods, cell phones, pregnancy, lipstick and bad thoughts all mess with your qi and cause you to feel depressed, fatigued, stressed...bad.

We can help diagnose and unblock your qi...get things moving again and... get you feeling better. Watch the following video to see one of the diagnostics we use at the Wellness Center of Franklin.

If you have an issue with chronic pain in a specific area of your body that just won't go away no matter what you do, here is an excellent treatment.

It's a procedure we offer called "cupping" and Dr. Allison has been using it for many decades with great success. The purpose of cupping is to draw "qi" or energy and blood flow into the area of interest.

CUPPING

Cupping originated in China many thousands of years ago. A glass jar would be used along with alcohol and a flame to create a vacuum with in the jar. Once the flame was lit the jar would quickly be placed on the skin creating a vacuum. (However modern methods do not require the use of an open flame.) The jar could then be left in position over certain acupuncture points or moved around creating a gentle massage with suction. The amount of suction can be adapted to the patient according to their sensitivity levels and is therefore painless.

Why does it work?

Because in order to heal, your body needs blood flow to the affected area. Cupping promotes this massive blood flow, concentrating the blood on the one area where you're having chronic, constant pain.

Our patients report decreased pain and far less dependence on pain medications. Immediately after his cupping treatment, this patient found the treatment very therapeutic. (Notice the gel that is applied during the cupping procedure.)

The technique can and usually does result in some significant bruising or redness of the area treated but is completely harmless. You may have seen pictures of Gwyneth Paltrow at a movie premiere after a cupping session or Michael Phelps, gold medalist at Rio de Janeiro Olympics donning bruises from cupping, or even Jennifer Aniston at a movie debut.

Cupping can promote great healing when applied to injuries and chronic pain conditions.

If you have constant pain in one area, cupping could be an effective treatment for you. Give us a call today at (615) 790-6363.
